Argumatik - The computer aided image analyser
Main parts of the system are a specially developped software and high-resolution underwater cameras which film all actions below the water surface (frame grabbing!).
For evaluation of the images taken, those are passed in form of huge amount of datas to the CPU. Based on mathematic algorithms the images are now analysed. To allow the recognition of the contents of the images, a very complex software is necessary. The programmes are able, or better, have the intelligence, to recognize different colours and surfaces and further details. That is the reason, why the system is able to detect a person which is floating motionless under the water surface. The system recognizes persons in front of the pools walls and it is able to recognize, whether a person is mooving of just floating.
To permanently guarantee a perfect image quality, which is necessary for a correct evaluation, the software is configured to all special conditions in a bath. And... apart from this, the software is able to learn which means, it is able to adjust to changing environmental conditions in the bath through a day and even through the year.
Waves, light incidence, water transparency... these and many other factors influence the image quality. Therefore they are considered already during the initial project phase.
Once the software detects a persons floating motionless below the surface, a countdown starts. Once it is finished - which means, a person is still motionless after a defined period of seconds and is in danger, the lifeguard is alarmed via wireless radio transmission about this emergency case. Furthermore she/he is also informed, in which are of the bath, the person in danger is located. A very important and time saving effect in case of a bath with great dimensions!
